Give me oil in my lamp

Sing hosanna to the King of Kings!
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna,
Sing hosanna to the King!
2. Give me joy in my heart, keep me singing.
Give me joy in my heart, I pray.
Give me joy in my heart, keep me singing,
Keep me singing till the break of day.
Chorus
3. Give me love in my heart, keep me serving.
Give me love in my heart, I pray.
Give me love in my heart, keep me serving,
Keep me serving till the break of day.
Chorus
4. Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting.
Give me peace in my heart, I pray.
Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting,
Keep me resting till the break of day.
Chorus
This song just popped into my head in the shower one day, and when I started singing it, I realized how appropriate it was to sing to Ember and how it embodied so many of the things that we have been praying for her to have in her life...love, joy, peace, etc. The first verse really stuck out to me because it asks the Lord to keep our lamps burning (a reference to the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25), and Ember's name reflects that very request! Our little spark of faith...the hot coal that can be reignited into a flame so easily...that's our Ember! Today, we pray that she would have plenty of oil for her lamp, that she would persevere in the faith.
Oh Lord, we pray that Ember would always carry Your spark within her...that spark of life and faith! We pray that despite the opposition and counter influences in this world that she would press on and persist in seeking after You, loving You, and serving You. God, we are so thankful for the spark that You have ignited in our hearts, and we pray that we might pass it on to our daughter! We are so thankful to You for reigniting our flame of faith by sending our precious Ember to us, and we ask You to watch over her and keep her. Keep her on the path that leads to You. May her lamp continually burn strong and bright! We pray this prayer as we expectantly wait for our little spark to be born!Definition of PERSEVERE: to persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counter influences opposition, or discouragement
I love that song... simple and yet perfectly profound for little ones & old(er) ones ;) alike!!
